Position Summary:
The Per Diem Employment Specialist (ES) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in achieving competitive, integrated employment within the community. This role focuses on career planning, job placement, coaching, and long-term employment retention through person-centered services.

Position Scope:
This position operates in community-based settings across Pennsylvania and involves direct interaction with individuals, employers, and interdisciplinary teams. The Employment Specialist provides flexible, as-needed (Per Diem) support and services aligned with individualized employment goals and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
The Employment Specialist conducts vocational and career assessments, develops individualized employment plans, and supports individuals in securing and maintaining competitive employment through job search assistance, resume and interview preparation, and workplace readiness training. The role includes identifying employment opportunities, building and maintaining employer partnerships, providing on-the-job coaching and onboarding support, monitoring performance, and addressing barriers to employment and retention. Additionally, the Employment Specialist advocates for workplace accommodations, promotes disability awareness and inclusion, facilitates communication between employees and employers, maintains accurate documentation and service records, ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, and collaborates with benefits counselors, interdisciplinary teams, and program initiatives to support overall service delivery and community integration.

Regulatory Frameworks:
Services must comply with:
  • Federal regulations including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) standards
  • Applicable state and federal labor and employment laws
  • Organizational policies and procedures
Confidentiality:
Maintains strict confidentiality of all participant, employer, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA, company policy, and applicable laws.

Documentation Requirements:
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete service documentation
  • Complete required reports and billing records
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory and funding source requirements
  • Record progress toward employment goals
Certifications:
  • ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) or
  • CESP (Certified Employment Support Professional)
Required within 6 months of employment

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred
Experience:
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred
  • Background in supported employment, job coaching, or vocational services preferred
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in documentation systems and basic computer applications
  • Ability to use electronic health records (EHR) or similar systems
  • Strong organizational and data tracking skills
Languages:
Proficient in English (written and verbal) required. Additional languages are a plus.

Driver License:
Valid driver’s license required. Acceptable driving record required

Travel Requirement:
Regular local travel required. Travel to participant homes, workplaces, and community locations
