Job Description: Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Administer medications (if certified) and monitor individuals’ health and well-being.
- Follow individualized care plans and implement behavioral support strategies.
- Support meal planning, preparation, and feeding as needed.
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, community outings, and recreational activities.
- Encourage and assist individuals in developing independent living skills.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
- Accurately document care, activities, and observations in accordance with agency procedures.
Skills & Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals who may require physical assistance.
- Knowledge of home care, hospice, senior care, or nursing home practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those supported.
- Nice to have: DDS Medication Administration Certification.
