Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and self-motivated Service Technician/Handyman to join our team. In this role, you will travel throughout Seattle to complete maintenance work orders at multiple apartment communities, with a strong focus on responding to urgent and after-hours emergency maintenance requests.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in general maintenance and repairs, can work independently, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. This position requires experience in electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, drywall, painting, and general handyman services. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of the apartment turnover process and be able to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently to help prepare units for new residents.

Applicants must have their own reliable vehicle, a complete set of tools, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and the ability to prioritize emergency situations are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled maintenance work orders at multiple apartment communities
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls after regular business hours (after 5:00 PM), including evenings, and weekends.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, appliance, drywall, carpentry, and other general maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance problems and determine the most effective repair solution.
  • Install, repair, and replace fixtures, faucets, garbage disposals, toilets, light fixtures, outlets, switches, appliances, and other building components.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks to minimize future repairs and equipment failures.
  • Communicate with tenants, property managers, and office staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and recommendations for additional repairs.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable building codes.
  • Keep a well-stocked and organized inventory of personal tools and commonly used materials.
  • Drive to multiple job sites each day using a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance while representing the company at client properties.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and report any issues that require additional attention.
  • Collaborate with the cleaning, painting, and maintenance teams to ensure apartments are completed on schedule.
  • Assist with miscellaneous property maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and remain available to respond to after-hours emergency service requests.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 years of hands-on experience in apartment maintenance, property maintenance, or general handyman services.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of apartment turnover procedures and preparing units for new residents.
  • Experience responding to emergency maintenance situations and prioritizing urgent repairs.
  • Ability to repair and install common household appliances, including refrigerators, dishwashers, garbage disposals, ranges, and microwaves.
  • Experience repairing toilets, faucets, sinks, drains, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including replacing outlets, switches, light fixtures, breakers, and ceiling fans.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, repair instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work orders each day.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills when interacting with residents and property managers.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must provide and maintain a complete set of personal tools required to perform daily maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Pay: $21.30 - $25.00 per hour
