The Director will manage multi-site manufacturing safety, fleet compliance, training, and risk management programs, providing leadership and strategic direction to maintain safe and compliant work environments.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Lead company-wide safety initiatives, policies, and training programs for manufacturing and fleet operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all facilities.
- Manage compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, DOT/FMCSA, EPA, and state/local safety regulations.
- Oversee fleet safety, driver qualification files, drug/alcohol testing, and vehicle maintenance compliance.
- Direct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action plans.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate safety committees and employee engagement programs to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Support environmental compliance programs and waste management practices.
- Provide safety orientation and recurring training sessions for all employees.
- Collaborate with HR and insurance partners on workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Analyze safety metrics and recommend continuous improvement strategies.
- Support emergency response planning and crisis management across sites.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 7-10 years in safety leadership within manufacturing, construction, fleet operations, and concrete production.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA and environmental regulations.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage compliance programs, and influence safety culture.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health or related field, or 8-10 years of equivalent experience.
- CSP, ASP, or CHST certification.
- First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Valid state driver’s license
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to travel between plant sites (25–40%).
- Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy equipment areas.
- Must wear required PPE in designated zones.
Performance Metrics:
- Reduction in recordable incidents and vehicle accidents.
