Contract work for Architectural History shall meet at a minimum the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards in Architectural History, Architecture, or Historic Architecture including education and relevant work experience commensurate with 36 CFR 61.
Job Overview
The Cultural Resources Specialist will provide administrative and technical support to Fort Campbell’s Cultural Resources Management Program, to avoid, minimize, and mitigate adverse effects to historic properties by military training, construction, and other installation activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist program administration activities in supporting identification, evaluation and recommended treatments of all classes of cultural resources.
· Maintain official filing, record keeping, and electronic information storage systems conforming to Army standards, guidance, protocols, technical literature, government policy, and electronic documents concerning cultural resources management.
· Provide technical support in conducting Environmental Performance Assessment System (EPAS) audits of internal and external Garrison activities and develop subsequent findings reports within five (5) days of request.
· Coordinate with archaeological and other cultural resources contractors conducting work on Fort Campbell as necessary to ensure tasks are performed in the period of performance stipulated in the task order.
· Provide technical analysis and review of undertakings as defined by the NHPA (1966) as amended and implement regulation 36 CFR 800. Assist in NEPA and Tennessee One Call reviews for effect to historic properties.
· Provide technical assistance in administration and documentation of Section 106 compliance reviews not incorporated into NEPA review.
· Conduct fieldwork services in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring sites to protect cultural resources.
· Conduct in-house archaeological site identification (Phase I) surveys of small-scale project/study area(s) not to exceed 50-acres and perform subsequent archaeological inventories and associated report/records preparation.
· Monitor known Historic Properties and sites with known or suspected human remains and verify the location, noting and documenting changes in site condition since previous site visitations and documenting evidence of ARPA violations.
· Review and provide technical comments for all survey reports submitted to the government.
· Provide GIS technical support for development and updating cultural resources databases.
Qualifications
- · Working knowledge of GIS and GPS data management.
· Ability to endure long hours in harsh environmental conditions including extreme heat and exposure to insects. Must be willing to work non-standard hours, as required, to conduct monitoring.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
· Experienced with Microsoft Office suite and other industry software such as Survey 123.
