REPORTS TO: Facilities Supervisor and Administration
SUPERVISES: n/a
CONTRACT DAYS: 197 days
SALARY: Salary is based on appropriate step on the approved OCS salary schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
JOB GOAL: Perform custodial and grounds keeping services to maintain a high standard of sanitation, cleanliness, safety and health for school system facilities by using appropriate tools or materials and by following established standards and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Perform custodial services and provide services/support for various school functions, groups or school facilities (gyms, stadium, etc.).
2. Daily monitoring and clean-up of facilities and entrances.
3. Work unobtrusively in student areas. High level of personal initiative, time management skills, and ability to work efficiently without close supervision.
4. Must be willing to adjust or assist other custodial staff members with work areas or assignments.
5. Assess and respond to any issues and problems related to the buildings or grounds.
6. Demonstrate competency in the use of appropriate equipment, cleaning tools, and supplies.
7. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner with the ability to prioritize tasks.
8. Attend work during assigned hours, with regular attendance and ample notice for absences.
9. Adhere to school system rules, administration procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
10. Attend faculty and other assigned meetings as requested by administration.
11. Participate in the State Board and system required in-service, professional development and required training.
12. Assists in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
13. Perform reasonable duties necessary for the safe and effective operation of the school.
14. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
15. Exhibit positive human relations skills and professional ethics.
16. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication.
17. Contribute to the overall development of an effective school program.
18. Communicate concerns and requests to supervisor or administration in an appropriate and timely manner.
19. Perform clerical tasks and maintain individual records as necessary.
20. Perform other duties as might be reasonably assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or by direction of the Board.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sufficient physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities. Must be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively, perform repetitive motion cleaning duties, able to use cleaning implements and products, operate electrical or cleaning equipment necessary to carry out assigned duties.
