Job Type: Full-time, Exempt.

Work Hours: The workweek for full-time exempt employees is normally considered to be 40 hours; however, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to the position than on working a specified number of hours. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

Work Setting: In-person and Field Service Area

Location: Redlands, Azusa, Mission Hills, CA

Travel: Frequently required to travel by personal auto to hospitals, meeting sites, and other locations within our service area.

Summary of Functions:

The Regional Director of Clinical Operations (RDCO) provides strategic and operational leadership for all organ donation clinical activities within an assigned region. This position oversees the daily performance of all clinical operations, ensuring the highest standards of donor management, organ recovery, regulatory compliance, and hospital collaboration. The RDCO serves as the primary clinical contact for hospital partners, transplant programs, and OneLegacy leadership regarding clinical issues, performance metrics, process improvement, and customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Clinical Operations Oversight

  • Direct and oversee all regional clinical operations related to donor management, organ allocation, recovery, and post-recovery processes.
  • Partner with Pre Authorization leadership team to ensure successful referral and approach process for all referrals and potential organ donors.
  • Partner with hospital administration, critical care, and surgical leadership to proactively address clinical challenges, align donation workflows with hospital priorities, and foster a culture of collaboration and shared accountability. Serve as a trusted clinical resource and advocate for process excellence to advance donation performance and strengthen long-term hospital partnerships.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to OPO protocols, medical standards, and regulatory requirements (OPTN, CMS, UNOS, TJC).
  • Provide strategic and hands-on clinical leadership to Procurement Transplant Coordinators, Surgical Recovery Coordinators, and Donor Management teams to ensure the highest standards of donor management, organ recovery, and clinical decision-making. Champion professional and effective collaboration between OneLegacy’s clinical staff and hospital-based teams—including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and surgical services—to promote seamless coordination, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to donor and recipient outcomes.
  • Function as the primary clinical partner to Program Management and Referral Teams, driving collaboration, accountability, and information flow to optimize donor potential and hospital engagement. Build and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships to ensure clinical alignment, operational readiness, and consistent execution of OneLegacy’s mission.
  • Oversee donor case performance as defined by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), leveraging data analysis to guide continuous improvement initiatives, elevate clinical outcomes, and advance organizational excellence throughout the donation and transplantation process.

 

Leadership and Staff Development

  • Supervise and mentor clinical management and frontline staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence.
  • Participate in selection, onboarding, and competency development of clinical team members.
  • Promote teamwork and communication between on-call teams, donor hospitals, and internal departments.

Hospital and External Partner Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clinical issues involving hospitals, physicians, and transplant center partners.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration, critical care, and surgical leadership to resolve clinical concerns and strengthen donation processes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of hospital donation protocols and performance improvement plans.
  • Represent the organization in hospital committees, donor council meetings, and quality collaboratives.

Performance Management and KPI Accountability

  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including:
    • Organs transplanted per donor
    • Authorization rate
    • Timeliness of donor evaluation and management
    • Organ non use
  • Analyze regional data to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices; lead implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to address findings, corrective actions, and audits.

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting body requirements governing OPO operations.
  • Participate in internal audits, mock surveys, and regulatory readiness programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CMS Conditions for Participaiton OPTN/UNOS policy updates, and relevant hospital standards.

Strategic and Program Development

    • Partner with senior leadership and Program Managers to align regional operations with the organization’s strategic goals.
    • Support innovation in donor management strategies, clinical technologies, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Contribute to the development of training programs, policies, and procedures to standardize clinical excellence across regions.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or related clinical field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Licensure: Current RN, or other applicable clinical license required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive clinical leadership in hospital leadership, , critical care, transplant, or OPO settings.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage regional operations.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Certification & License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. 

Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
