Job Summary

Cloud Lead Engineer is responsible for driving in the transformation of our technology into a cloud first architecture by partnering with the business, Cloud Architects and Engineering teams. The Cloud Engineer Lead will work with other infrastructure/application partners and key stakeholders to understand cloud usage dependencies and develop optimized engineering patterns. This individual will stay abreast of the fast-moving cloud space and uses that knowledge to engineer new cloud solutions enabling developers to utilize cloud technologies and capabilities to deliver value for our business. This role will be responsible for driving engineering designs, implementations, and operational excellence for the cloud platform.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cloud transformation project team and key stakeholders
• Identify security risk, prioritize, and drive activities/solutions to mitigate risk
• Install, configure, maintain, and document solutions implemented in the cloud architecture
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and make appropriate recommendations regarding their alignment to the cloud strategy
• Work with key business stakeholders to clearly communicate standards and best practices for implementing and protecting information assets
• Serve as an escalation point and provide troubleshooting guidance and direction in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex Cloud issues.
• Identify solutions that represent opportunities to leverage cloud services and architectures by evaluating quality attributes, technology risk, capacity variability, and other factors where a cloud native architecture solution can add benefit to the overall solution
• Drive guidance and governance of SaaS/IaaS/PaaS Applications on current and new technologies or requirements that might impact business solutions
• Lead and participate in design discussions/product architecture reviews and assist engineering teams design products that adhere to SaaS/IaaS/PaaS principles
• Design and build highly available and scalable systems on cloud platforms (primarily Azure)
• Identifying the best technical solutions that can be rolled out efficiently and, in a cost-effective manner
• Provide expertise and advice to help teams building solutions on cloud platforms including design, planning, management, maintenance and assessing systems for potential weaknesses or issues
• Provide expert level support for workloads in public cloud providers, primarily Microsoft Azure.
• Partner with the operations team to ensure streamlined deployment of applications and resources on the Azure platform
• Ensure new products and updates meet requirements pre and post release.
• Focus on consistent execution and delivery excellence of projects to the organization.
• Design and implement end-to-end infrastructure solutions across multiple disciplines including, compute, network, storage on cloud or on-prem.
• Place a focus on technical debt elimination through cloud migrations
• Engage in architectural discussions and lead direction from a cloud security engineering and operations standpoint
  
  

Job Requirements

Required Education and/or Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree OR any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
  
  

Recommended Education and/or certifications

• Microsoft Certified Engineer or Architect level certifications
  
  

Required Work Experience

• 7 years of experience in designing and implementation of complex IT systems or consulting experience with distributed applications or systems architecture
• 4 years of experience in a Cloud Engineering or Architecture role
• 4 years of practical experience with Microsoft Azure and or AWS
• 3 years of practical experience developing automated deployment scripts and tools
  
  

Salary Band: 07C

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN or Portland, ME. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
