Description
The Facilities Assistant helps keep One80 Place clean, safe, and running smoothly. You will work with our Operations Team to take care of the building and property so that clients and staff have a comfortable environment.
STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: 35 Walnut Street (downtown Charleston)
SCHEDULE: 3-4 hours/day, Wednesday through Sunday generally
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Assists facilities team with operational tasks and projects (basic maintenance, basic shelter upkeep, maintaining inspection ready status, various employee requests, etc.) as needed.
- Routine upkeep of outside property(using leaf blower, picking up litter, powerwashing, emptying trash, etc.).
- Routine upkeep of shelter (powerwashing bathrooms, using floor scrubber, taking out trash, plunge a toilet, work on a ladder, assist Facilities Housekeepers as needed, etc.).
- Possible “on-call” status for emergency repairs and/or weather events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance or a similar job
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment (hand tools, drill, saw, tape measure, power washer, blower, etc.)
- Able to handle different tasks and switch priorities when needed.
- Good time management and ability to work independently or with a team
- Positive attitude and respect for people experiencing homelessness
- Preference given to applicants with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (DMV report required if hired)

- Sound organizational and time management abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Corrective vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to move between service locations.
