Description: Position Summary
General Labor associates support production across the fabrication floor — moving material, tending equipment, finishing parts, and assisting assembly and packaging teams. This is a hands-on entry-level role with direct exposure to press brake, punch, weld, powder coat, and assembly operations. It is a strong fit for someone looking to build a manufacturing skill set with a path to a permanent position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Material Handling
Load, unload, and stage raw sheet metal, tube, and bar stock at work centers
Move work-in-process between departments using carts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
Pull material per job travelers and work orders
Assist with receiving, put-away, and cycle counts
Production Support
Offload parts from press brake, punch, laser, and shear operations
Assist machine operators with setup, part orientation, and staging
Perform deburring, grinding, sanding, and edge finishing on fabricated parts
Insert hardware (PEM studs, standoffs, nuts), rivet, and complete basic subassembly work
Finishing & Assembly
Mask parts and hang on racks for powder coat; unload and inspect after cure
Support enclosure and panel assembly under direction of assemblers and leads
Apply labels, decals, and identification per work instructions
Quality & Packaging
Visually inspect parts for burrs, scratches, dents, and finish defects
Verify part counts and dimensions using tape measure and basic hand gauges
Package, band, palletize, and crate finished goods for shipment
Report nonconforming material to lead or supervisor immediately
General
Maintain a clean and organized work area; participate in 5S and housekeeping
Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
Complete production paperwork and time entry accurately
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16"
Basic math and measurement skills
Ability to read and follow written work instructions, routers, and job travelers
Reliable attendance and transportation
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Willingness to work overtime as scheduled
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
6 months experience in manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, or construction
Familiarity with basic blueprint or drawing interpretation
Experience with hand and power tools (grinder, drill, rivet gun, impact driver)
Forklift or pallet jack experience
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Stand and walk for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; occasional team lifts above that
Bend, twist, reach overhead, and kneel repeatedly throughout the shift
Repetitive hand and arm motion; sustained grip
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal dust, machinery, and seasonal temperature variation
Required PPE: safety glasses, steel or composite toe footwear, cut-resistant gloves, hearing protection (provided or specified at orientation)
