Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experience Installation Tech to join our team in Merrimack, NH. This role is responsible for independently installing, programming, and servicing low‑voltage security systems, including alarms, surveillance cameras, and access control. The technician ensures proper wiring, system functionality, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high safety and quality standards. You will also coordinate with project teams and provide professional customer support during system handovers and installations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Independently install and service wired and wireless alarm systems, IP and analog surveillance cameras, and access control solutions in commercial and residential environments.
- Lead the configuration, programming, and testing of security systems to ensure full functionality and compliance with project specifications.
- Plan, run, terminate, and neatly manage low-voltage wiring, including troubleshooting and correcting wiring issues as needed.
- Perform systematic testing, diagnosis, and resolution of system and device faults in the field.
- Conduct professional client system handovers, including clear operational training and basic user-level troubleshooting guidance.
- Accurately complete project documentation, including as-built drawings, device lists, programming records, and service reports.
- Coordinate with project managers, sales, and other trades to ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order and manage truck stock inventory.
- Adhere to all industry safety standards, electrical codes (where applicable), and company policies, and promote safe practices on every job site.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a security installation technician or low-voltage installer (typically 3 years) with alarm, video surveillance, and/or access control systems.
- Strong working knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices, terminations, cable management, and labeling standards.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, floor plans, and wiring schematics.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and the ability to safely operate ladders, lifts, and related equipment.
- Solid understanding of basic networking principles (IP addressing, subnetting, PoE, switches, and routers) as they apply to security devices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve field issues with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capability to perform all job duties, including working at heights, lifting and carrying equipment, and working in confined spaces as required.
- Reliable transportation to job sites in the Merrimack area and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Manufacturer certifications for alarm, access control, or video platforms (e.g., DSC, Honeywell, Bosch, Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, etc.).
- Previous experience leading small crews or mentoring junior/assistant technicians.
- Advanced networking knowledge (VLANs, QoS, remote access, VPNs) for complex IP-based security systems.
