SENIOR DIRECTOR OF SURVIVOR SERVICES

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Survivor Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of holistic programs serving survivors of human trafficking. This role ensures that all organizational initiatives are trauma-informed, survivor-led, and culturally competent. The Senior Director balances internal program excellence—mentoring staff and ensuring high-quality care—with external advocacy, national ecosystem strengthening, and legislative engagement. The Senior Director further works to engage community leaders and partnership that benefits survivor clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Program Leadership & Survivor Support
- Holistic Program Design: Develop and oversee a support framework that ensures all survivor services are trauma-informed, survivor-led, and meet the highest standards of cultural competency.
- Professional Mentorship: Provide mentorship to ATMT Team Supervisors through professional guidance and lived experience expertise to prevent secondary trauma and burnout while ensuring a high level of quality care for both clients and staff.
- Survivor-Centered Decision Making: Lead the direct survivor engagement strategy, ensuring that individuals with lived experience provide critical insight and guidance in organizational decision-making, program development, and leadership opportunities.
- Community Engagement & Collective Impact
- Strategic Referral Networks: Build and maintain formal partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, legal aid, and NGOs to facilitate a seamless, trauma-informed referral network.
- National Ecosystem Strengthening: Lead strategic initiatives to strengthen the national anti-trafficking ecosystem through comprehensive training, technical assistance, and the integration of lived experience expertise into both internal and external programs.
- Stakeholder Education: Lead the development of training materials and public awareness campaigns to equip community partners with the tools to identify and support survivors effectively.
- Advocacy & Policy Initiatives
- Systems Change Leadership: Represent the organization on local, regional, and national task forces to advocate for systemic policy changes that benefit survivors and address root causes of exploitation.
- Legislative Engagement: Lead policy initiatives to advance model legislation. This includes direct education and engagement with state and federal legislators to promote survivor-centered anti-trafficking policies. Public Representation: Serve as a subject matter expert for media inquiries, conferences, and public speaking engagements related to survivor support and engagement when a lived-experience perspective is requested. Prepare ATMT staff for these opportunities when presented.
- Assistance in overall Leadership: The Senior Director will function as a crucial part of the AT Leadership Team and will help to cover supervisory tasks/responsibilities and oversight during times of reduced staffing and at other times, as needed/requested by the Executive Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
As indicated above, the Senior Director will provide mentorship to ATMT Team Supervisors through professional guidance and lived experience expertise to prevent secondary trauma and burnout while ensuring a high level of quality care for both clients and staff. While the Senior Director may not typically oversee direct reports, this position will function as a crucial part of the AT Leadership Team and will help cover supervisory tasks/responsibilities and oversight during times of reduced staffing and at other times, as needed/requested by the Executive Director.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and at times be on call to provide 24/7emergency related services to clients.
- Experience working with exploited persons.
- Experience with trauma informed care approaches while working with survivors/victims.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of experience working with exploited persons.
- Survivor of childhood sexual abuse, exploitation, and/or sex trafficking, with a minimum of three years of recovery.
- Bilingual

- Computer and systems skills include experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Additionally, as this is an in-field position, with no guarantee of accessibility, the employee must be able to climb stairs without assistance, as well as navigate crowded living arrangements. Events may require standing for extended periods of time. This job requires the ability to work in a stressful environment, with crisis responses, as well as working outside of typical business hours, with late nights and weekends. It requires lifting and moving materials or items needed for client meetings, up to 50 lbs.
