One Lucky Pup Pet Resort & Spa | Northlake – Charlotte, NC

Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly

Join Our Leadership Team!

Are you a strong, dependable leader who loves dogs and thrives in a fast-paced environment? One Lucky Pup Pet Resort & Spa is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Manager to join our Northlake leadership team!

At One Lucky Pup, we are passionate about providing exceptional care, safety, and memorable experiences for the dogs entrusted to us. We believe outstanding pet care starts with strong leadership, teamwork, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to doing what's right.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, leads by example, holds themselves and others accountable, and takes pride in maintaining high standards. This is an active, hands-on leadership position that requires confidence, sound judgment, flexibility, and the ability to balance employee management, animal care, customer service, and daily resort operations.

This is not a desk management position. Our Assistant Managers work directly alongside their teams, lead by example, and play an essential role in keeping the resort operating safely, efficiently, and successfully.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, supervise, motivate, and support employees throughout daily operations.
  • Coach, train, and develop team members while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
  • Delegate responsibilities, monitor productivity, and ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and on time.
  • Address employee concerns and performance issues professionally and promptly.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, staffing, and employee development.

Resort Operations & Animal Care

  • Help oversee daily operations, including dog daycare, boarding, grooming, reception, and facility care.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of animal safety, cleanliness, sanitation, and organization.
  • Monitor canine behavior, group play dynamics, and safe handling practices.
  • Ensure dogs receive proper feeding, medication, exercise, enrichment, rest, and individualized care.
  • Conduct facility inspections and ensure established policies, procedures, and safety protocols are consistently followed.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, unexpected situations, and operational challenges.
  • Work alongside the team as needed with direct animal care, cleaning, and other daily responsibilities.

Customer Service & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve client questions or concerns professionally.
  • Help ensure accurate reservations, client records, medication instructions, and service charges.
  • Assist with operational reporting, employee attendance, labor management, and required documentation.
  • Maintain professional communication with employees, clients, and senior management.
  • Support business growth through excellent service, teamwork, and operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has demonstrated leadership or management experience and is confident supervising a team.
  • Has a strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, group dynamics, and safe animal handling.
  • Is dependable, punctual, organized, and committed to following through on responsibilities.
  • Takes initiative, recognizes problems, and works proactively toward solutions.
  • Can provide constructive feedback, address difficult situations, and maintain accountability.
  • Communicates clearly, professionally, and respectfully.
  • Remains calm under pressure and makes sound decisions in challenging situations.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility.
  • Is comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a busy, physically demanding environment.
  • Understands that successful management requires teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
  • Is comfortable using computers, scheduling platforms, email, and business management software.

Position Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and transportation required.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
  • Ability to remain responsive to time-sensitive management needs outside regularly scheduled shifts, as required.
  • Ability to remain physically active throughout an eight-hour shift, regularly lift or move 50 pounds, and safely handle dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on animal care, cleaning, sanitation, and other physically demanding responsibilities.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Assistant Manager at One Lucky Pup doesn't just oversee a shift. They take ownership of the resort's success.

They lead a productive, well-trained team, maintain exceptional animal care and facility standards, communicate effectively, solve problems, and ensure every client feels confident leaving their dog in our care.

Most importantly, they are someone their team and senior management can depend on to consistently do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

If you're passionate about dogs, take pride in your leadership abilities, and are excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a growing pet-care business, we would love to hear from you!
