Assembly Technician

One Horse, LLC — Brownstown, Indiana

About One Horse

One Horse is a precision firearms manufacturer (Type-07 FFL) building American-made AR-15 platform rifles right here in Brownstown, Indiana. We're a fast-growing startup that just launched a rifle selling as fast as we can build it — and we're scaling production hard to keep up. Every unit that leaves our shop is built to exacting standards, and we're looking for hands-on people who take pride in doing precise work the right way, every time.

The Role

As an Assembly Technician, you'll build complete rifles and sub-assemblies from precision components — reading technical drawings, hitting torque and headspace specs, and running function and safety checks before each unit ships. This is core production work at a company where craftsmanship and throughput both matter. If you like working with your hands, solving problems, and seeing the direct results of your work walk out the door, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

  • Assemble AR-15 platform rifles and sub-assemblies (uppers, lowers, bolt carrier groups, trigger groups, barrels) per technical drawings, build sheets, and assembly procedures
  • Install and torque components to spec using torque wrenches, armorer's tools, vises, barrel blocks, and roll-pin punches
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and headspace using calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges
  • Perform function and safety checks on every assembled firearm before it moves to QC or shipping
  • Match serial numbers to build and inventory records, maintaining accurate documentation
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment; soldering and light welding a plus
  • Keep your station clean, organized, and compliant with all safety protocols at all times
  • Help troubleshoot assembly issues and recommend improvements to process, quality, and throughput

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Comfort with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and hand/power tools
  • Sharp attention to detail and a non-negotiable commitment to quality and safety
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and stay productive in a fast-paced shop
  • Firearms assembly or armorer experience (AR-15 platform especially) — strongly preferred
  • Machining, fabrication, soldering, or welding exposure — a plus
  • Forklift or warehouse operations experience — a plus

Eligibility Requirements

Because of the nature of our work, this role has a few hard requirements:

  • Must be legally able to possess and handle firearms and ammunition under all applicable federal, state, and local laws
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) for compliance with applicable U.S. export-control regulations
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Why One Horse

We're at the ground floor of something growing fast. That means real ownership of your work, room to grow as the company grows, and the satisfaction of building products people genuinely want — all stamped Made in the USA and built in Brownstown. If you want to be part of the team putting Indiana on the map in the firearms world, we'd like to meet you.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Manufacturing shop floor: standing, repetitive hand work, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to tools, machinery, solvents, and lubricants typical of a firearms production environment
  • Required use of PPE (eye and ear protection) per shop safety standards
