Job Summary: Under general direction of a Physician, the CRNA administers anesthetics and monitors the anesthetized patient during Endoscopic procedures. Works within the guidelines and scope of practice of the CRNA Practice Act.
The CRNA is responsible for the clinical management and overall care of the patient as related to anesthesia. Work as part of a team focused environment with physicians, nurses, and other ASC personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

This role requires continuous activity levels in areas such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and reaching. It also requires dexterity in motion/flexibility. Ability to lift, push or pull 35 or more. Must be able to differentiate colors and successfully pass color blind screening.
Work Environment
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
This job operates in a clinic and procedure room environment. There is potential to be exposed to blood, tissue, and bodily fluids. Involves exposure to Glutaraldehyde/Rapicide (Refer to SDS manual as needed). Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the patient pre-operatively by interviewing and examining the patient; assess data; select appropriate anesthetic.
- Administer anesthetics in accordance with clinical privileges delineated.
- Communicate with Physician related to planned anesthesia and changes in patient status.
- Monitor, interpret, and evaluate information derived from monitors intra-operatively on patients; protect patients life functions and vital organs.
- Perform IV insertion, intubation, hemodynamic and electrolyte balance, and airway management in routine and acute medical situations.
- Monitor the patient’s post-operative care and performs evaluation of the patient.
- Prepare drugs; maintain anesthesia equipment to keep in safe operational condition.
- Maintain detailed records of all medication administered, notating the patient's response.
- Perform safety checks of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain accounting of controlled substances
- Administer anesthesia and clinical management of patients according to accepted anesthesia standards.
- Conduct pre-surgical anesthesia assessment to evaluate appropriateness and risk of anesthesia.
- Monitor, interpret and evaluate information from patient monitoring devices.
- Insert IV, intubate, hemodynamic stabilization, and mange airway in routine and acute medical situations.
- Monitor respiration and cardiac activity of patients under sedation.
- Complete anesthesia record and pre-anesthesia evaluation form.
- Stock anesthesia carts and end of day drug reconciliation.
- Transport patient to procedure room.
- Transfer patients to recovery and report to recovery staff.
- Assist with patient post op complications (seizures, N&V, abdominal pain, etc.).
- Participate in the economical utilization of supplies.
- Participate in CQI program (peer review & attending quarterly CQI meetings).
- Complete occurrence forms when indicated.
- Assist with difficult IVs.
- Restart IVs in room if needed.
- Manage of patients with ICD.
- Conduct post procedure assessment.
- Help provide a safe environment for the patient to prevent potential injury.

- Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS office.

- Provide professional service to direct customers of One GI in all interactions.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an approved RN program.
- Graduation from an approved Nurse Anesthesia Program.
- Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
- Current Registered Nurse and APN Licensure in applicable state.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification required.
