What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Engineer position at One-Geo?
Role is based in Nashville, TN
This is a hardware-first, device ownership role. You will design and deploy analytical instrumentation systems end-to-end, including PCB and circuit design, embedded systems, mechanical design (CAD), automation, data acquisition, and integration for the oil and gas industry. This role requires strong hands-on engineering capability and the ability to take systems from concept to prototype to deployment.
What You’ll Own
You will own the design and development of analytical instrumentation systems for both field and lab use, including:
- Gas sensors as such electrochemical, NDIR, MIR, TCD, CCD, gas chromatographs (GC)
- Gas and rock sampling systems
- Automation, imaging, and control systems
- Work across hardware and software layers
- Work closely with engineering, software, and geoscience teams
- Ensure performance and reliability in real-world field environments
- Integrated hardware software platforms for real-time data acquisition and display
Core Responsibilities
- PCB and circuit design, DAQ, and electronic systems (schematic, layout, power, signal integrity, noise, wiring harness)
- Embedded systems / microcontroller programming (firmware, sensor interfacing, communications: Serial, Modbus, UART, TCP etc)
- Autodesk Inventor for Mechanical design of enclosures, components, and assemblies
- Integrate and automate analytical instruments
- Develop automation systems (relays, valves, pumps, detectors, pneumatics)
- Develop instrument control and data acquisition systems using LabVIEW
- WITSML for data integration into oilfield cloud workflows
- Lead and mentor junior engineers

Education and Experience
A Bachelors degree in Engineering and 5 years' work experience in hardware engineering is required.
Bonus Experience
- Oilfield experience (mudlogging, geosteering, cuttings/core analysis)
- Analytical instrumentation (GC, FID, mass spec, XRF, Porosity/Permeability, Imaging Systems etc.) especially for petroleum geoscience
