NH - Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA)

Assist in the performance of occupational therapy treatment procedures and related duties under the supervision and direction of a licensed occupational therapist.

• Assist in the assessment of occupational therapy treatment. 
• Document patient care and progress to include keeping records and statistics.
• Assist in educating patients about their care and treatment. 
• Assist the Occupational Therapist in the clinical instruction of occupational therapy assistant students.
• Care of environment and equipment, review inventory and the working condition of equipment.
• Attending meetings and in-service programs.
• Comply with department and regulatory standards and policies. 
• Recommend changes in procedures as appropriate.
• Performs other tasks as requested.

Education:

• Associate’s Degree from an AOTA accredited physical therapist assistant program.

Experience:

• May be new graduate but some experience in occupational therapy programs helpful and preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.  

Licenses, Certifications:

• Associate’s Degree from an AOTA accredited occupational therapist assistant program.
• New York State Certification as Occupational Therapist Assistant and current NYS Registration.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. 
• Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
