Responsibilities
- Prepares and cooks all foods as assigned by Food Production Manager ensuring adherence to all recipes and sanitary techniques.
- Checks the next day's menu. Pre-prepares all items for the following day for both the patient and cafeteria areas, as assigned.
- Checks with Food Production Manager for any special instructions for next day.
- Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
- Assists in the care and maintenance of work areas, equipment and supplies. Ensures that they clean as they go.
- Ensures that work areas and meat refrigerators are kept in clean orderly and sanitary condition during the course of the day.
- Ensures temperatures are taken and logged as required.
- Ensures all foods are labeled and dated as required.
- Reports supply shortages/low stock levels.
- Assists in the training of new employees.
- Works on tray-line during service period, as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Specialty training in quantity cooking required.
- Minimum one (1) year of related experience required.
- Ability to adhere to recipes, required.
- Volume cooking while following recipes and all agency guidelines for food safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending.
- May include some repetitive motions.
