Job Description

The Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic ionizing radiation in collaboration with radiation oncologists and staff. Key duties include maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, developing and monitoring clinical quality indicators, and overseeing all aspects of radiation physics such as brachytherapy, SRS, SBRT, radiation safety, and treatment planning.

Qualifications include certification as a Specialist in Therapeutic Radiology Physics (ABR), licensure as a Radiologic Technologist in Illinois, and a Master’s Degree in Physics or related field.

Responsibilities involve developing policies for therapeutic equipment, performing quality assurance activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining radiation safety, collaborating on treatment planning, supervising dosimetrists and technologists, and assisting with patient treatment procedures. The role also includes documentation, participating in safety and quality improvement initiatives, and acting as the Department Radiation Safety Officer.
