What You'll Be Doing:

As a Field Medical Director specializing in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role within our utilization management team. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact patients' lives in a non-clinical setting while enjoying improved work-life balance in a collaborative and continuously learning environment aimed at enhancing healthcare outcomes.

Collaboration Opportunities:

  • Engage regularly with leadership, management staff, fellow physicians, and other medical staff whenever specialized physician input is required.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Acting as the Physician match reviewer for Radiation Oncology and imaging cases that do not initially meet established medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests that require specialty reviews by a subject matter expert.
  • Conducting peer-to-peer discussions with requesting physicians or ordering providers to explain determinations and provide clinical rationales for both standard and expedited appeals, within the regulatory timeframe.
  • Applying medical and clinical review guidelines to ensure consistency in the physician review process and compliance with policies, procedures, and accreditation guidelines.
  • Supporting Initial Clinical Reviewers by offering guidance and resources.
  • Documenting all communications with medical office staff and/or MD providers in a prompt and accurate manner.
  • Assisting the Senior Medical Director with research activities related to the Utilization Management process and guidelines.
  • Participating in ongoing training to ensure alignment with inter-rater reliability processes.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO/MBBS degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of medical practice experience post-residency, with active clinical practice within the last two years preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license in your specialty area.
  • Active board certification in Radiation Oncology.
  • Exceptional clinical, management, communication, and organizational capabilities.
  • A strong passion for advancing quality and value in healthcare with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • No current exclusions or sanctions from state or federal healthcare programs, including Medicare or Medicaid.
  • No history of major disciplinary or legal actions by a state medical board.

To promote a secure hiring process, we incorporate various identity verification measures, which include submitting a government-issued photo ID. Identity verification will be conducted during interviews, and final interviews may necessitate onsite attendance. Candidates must complete a comprehensive background check, in-person I-9 verification, and may undergo drug screening prior to employment. The use of artificial intelligence tools during interviews is strictly prohibited. Any form of misrepresentation will lead to immediate disqualification.
