POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Saw Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of semi-automatic saw machines with conveyor systems and Forklifts. This role involves setting up the machine, performing routine maintenance, operating cranes and forklifts to move materials, assisting with material inventory audits, and ensuring the quality of the cut products.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Crane and Forklift Operation: Operate cranes and forklifts to move materials in and out of the saw machine, ensuring safe and efficient handling of heavy materials.
Machine Setup and Operation: Set up the semi-automatic saw machine for cutting operations, adjust machine settings, and load materials onto conveyors.

Nesting Work Orders: Nest work orders to maximize material usage and machine efficiency, reducing waste and optimizing production.

Quality Control: Monitor the cutting process, inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, and make necessary adjustments to maintain high standards.
Material Inventory Audits: Assist with material inventory audits to ensure accurate tracking and management of materials.
Adhere to OSHA safety standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices to prevent electrical hazards.
Implement and follow company safety policies, conducting regular safety checks and reporting any safety concerns to the supervisor.
Participate in safety training sessions and ensure all safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance activities, production output, and material inventory audits.
Maintain a clean work area and follow 5S basics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Two years’ fabrication experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Previous experience operating semi-automatic saw machines or similar equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Technical training in machine operation and crane operation.
Experience with nesting work orders to maximize material and machine efficiency.
Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve machine issues.
Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Forklift and crane operation certification.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work performed in a shop environment
Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness
Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials
Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach
The use of Safety Glasses is required
The use of earplugs is recommended
Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week
Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
