Job Summary
Onboard Logistics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Operations Specialist to join our growing New York branch. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating daily air and ocean export/import activities, ensuring documentation accuracy, shipment tracking, vendor coordination, and seamless customer service. This position requires strong logistics expertise, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
Duties
- Coordinate daily operations for assigned accounts across air and ocean exports/imports.
- Prepare, review, and process documentation, including commercial invoices and bills of lading.
- Track shipments from departure to arrival, keeping clients informed at every stage.
- Conduct warehouse visits for box counting, content verification, pallet breakdown, and repacking.
- Deliver documents and small packages (up to 25 lbs) to co-loaders when required.
- Research transportation methods and prepare competitive client quotations.
- Manage customer expectations through SOPs, KPIs, and account-specific metrics.
- Handle foreign-to-foreign shipments, OS&Ds, PO entries, and Schedule B inputs.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and report non-conformities or risks.
- Perform other operational duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Auditor certification preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address customer issues quickly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word).
- Systems knowledge: Enaxis, Twiins, and CargoWise (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Team player with interpersonal skills and accountability.
- Basic accounting knowledge is desirable.
