Associate General Counsel | Labor & Employment Focus | Birmingham, AL
Our client is seeking an experienced attorney to join its in-house legal team as Associate General Counsel. This is a hands-on role with a primary focus on labor and employment law, along with responsibility for managing a variety of litigation and disputes, for a fast paced, quickly growing, entrepreneurial company.
The Associate General Counsel will advise on employment matters across a multi-state workforce, including hiring, wage and hour, worker classification, leave and accommodations, performance management, discipline, separations, restrictive covenants, and employment policies. The role will also handle internal investigations, EEOC and state agency matters, position statements, and mediations.
In addition, this attorney will manage employment and general litigation matters, including pre-litigation demands, discovery, litigation holds, case strategy, settlement considerations, and oversight of outside counsel.
Ideal Background:
- J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5 years of legal experience; 7 years preferred
- Strong labor and employment law experience
- Hands-on litigation or litigation management experience
- Multi-state employment experience preferred
- Tech-savvy and comfortable leveraging AI and emerging legal technology to work efficiently and improve legal processes
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
This is an in-office opportunity based in Birmingham, Alabama offering significant ownership of the company’s employment and litigation matters.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
