JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire Camp
Counselors. Scheduled hours vary for each program. An employee in this
position is responsible for the supervision, instruction and safety of
all participants, program staff, and the equipment and amenities
associated with specific program. Essential Job Functions: Plan and
implement the daily activities of the Summer Explorers Day Camp program.
Act as a role model and leader for all day camp participants. Prepare
the facility for camp activities and clean up the area when all
activities are complete. Maintain an inventory of supplies, snacks, and
equipment. Communicate any necessary purchases to the Camp Director
and/or Site Supervisor. Be familiar with the Staff and Parent Manuals
and follow the guidelines set forth by these manuals Help compile and
maintain a binder of campers\' emergency contact information. Make sure
to bring the binders on walks, to the Onalaska Aquatic Center, all field
trips, etc. Complete and turn in Incident/Accident Report Forms, Conduct
Reports and all other required paperwork in a professional manner.
Dispense medication as needed and log in the Medication Record. Work
directly with the children by leading and supervising them in planned
activities. Administer First Aid and CPR as needed (training will be
provided); responds to accidents and emergencies in an appropriate
manner; administering first aid according to the blood borne pathogen
exposure control plan Remain at the site until all children are picked
up. Attend all required staff meetings, trainings and workshops.
Maintain a clean and organized environment for both staff and campers.
Perform the job in compliance with City policies, procedures, rules and
the employee handbook. Perform the job safely in compliance with City
safety rules and procedures. Performs other duties as required or

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Must be 18 years or
older. CPR/First Aid Certification required (class available upon hire).
One year of recreation and/or child care experience preferred. Must
possess supervision and leadership techniques/skills. Must possess good
knowledge of school-aged activity programs. Compensation: Wage range for
this seasonal, limited-term position is \$14.00 to \$17.00 per hour
depending on qualifications and budget. There are no benefits associated
