Preschool Paraeducator

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Preschool Paraeducator at Onalaska Elementary. This full-time position involves supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a preschool setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to create a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters learning, social skills, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to children, helping them with tasks and reinforcing learning concepts.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children's curiosity and creativity.
• Monitor and document children's progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the lead teacher.
• Support the management of classroom routines, including transitions, meal times, and outdoor activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, ensuring that materials and equipment are organized and accessible.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and behavior, as needed.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to early childhood education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree in early childhood education or related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the lead teacher.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
• Must pass background checks and any required health screenings.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
