Job Overview:
The Group Supervisor working in a combined Day Habilitation/Employment Initiatives setting provides daily oversight of program operations within the café environment. They implement curricula that support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, develop Staff Action Plans, and manage all communication related to assigned individuals.
Responsibilities include:
- Report any suspected abuse or neglect immediately and follow all OPWDD, NYS Justice Center, and On Your Mark regulations.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and supervision of individuals at all times, including responding appropriately to emergencies.
- Support individuals during arrival, departure routines, meals, and overall safety
- Driving On Your Mark agency vehicles when assigned.
- Assign and oversee daily responsibilities for staff and individuals.
- Provide instruction and supervision in all café-related tasks: customer service, working the counter, food prep/cooking, cleaning, maintenance, dishwashing, and other vocational skills.
- Complete assessments for new and current individuals, document progress, and maintain daily/monthly data.
- Hold weekly planning meetings with staff and individuals to keep café operations organized and efficient.
- Attend required trainings and maintain necessary certifications (AMAP, CPR, First Aid, SCIP-R).
- Administer medications (or assign trained staff) once AMAP certified.
- Ensure supplies are stocked, equipment is maintained, and program areas—including food storage—are clean, safe, and compliant.
- Maintain communication with families, residences, care managers, and providers as directed.
- Notify supervisors in advance of absences or lateness.
- Interact professionally with participants, coworkers, customers, vendors, and management.
- Perform any additional duties related to programming and safety as assigned by leadership.
- Perform other duties related to programming and participant safety as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to provide instruction across various program and café-based skill areas.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond quickly to changes in an individual’s condition.
- Self-directed, flexible, and able to work independently while supporting individualized needs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Position requires obtaining and maintaining a valid New York Food Handlers certification. Certification is preferred upon hire, or to be obtained no later than 90 days following hire date. Failure to acquire or maintain a valid New York Food Handlers certification within allowed time frame will result in termination of position/employment.
