Job Overview:

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s human resources functions. This includes talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, compensation and benefits, and organizational development. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and plays a critical role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives 
  • Advise senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and culture initiatives 
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, staff training, onboarding/offboarding, and retention strategies 
  • Develop performance management systems and employee engagement initiatives 
  • Support leadership in succession planning and talent development 
  • Provide guidance and resolution for employee relations issues 
  • Foster a positive workplace culture that emphasizes equity, inclusion, and respect 
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across the organization 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations 
  • Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations related to employment 
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices and new technologies to continuously improve HR function 
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures 
  • Oversee investigations, disciplinary actions, and risk management 
  • Anticipate problems whenever possible, and develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.  
  • Oversee benefits administration and vendor relationships; manage benefits programs 
  • Oversee DBL, WC, PFL, FMLA administration, communication and compliance 
  • Lead and supervise HR staff and functions 
  • Implement and manage HR systems and data reporting 
  • Monitor HR metrics and use data to drive decision-making 
  • Manage accurate, compliant record systems for employee data and maintain official employment files 
  • Be willing and able to learn new computer programs/systems as needed and instruct other in the systems use 
  • Oversee and maintain lines of communication with Agency and Program leadership, employees, and outside organizations.
Qualifications:

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (Master’s preferred) 
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles 
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices 
  • Knowledge of OPWDD rules and regulations 
  • Proven experience developing and implementing HR strategies 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR certifications preferred 
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving 
  • Leadership and team development 
  • Emotional intelligence and conflict resolution 
  • High level of integrity and professionalism 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs 
  • Familiarity with HRIS/Payroll Systems

Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
