Senior Communications Manager

On Top Strategy is a growing communications and PR company that partners with high-growth startups and established companies across AI, healthcare, biotech, and B2B SaaS. We work directly with founders and leadership teams to help them share their stories, build their brands, and connect with the right audiences.

We’re looking for a Senior Communications Manager based in New York City who can lead day-to-day strategic communications execution, secure meaningful press coverage, and develop compelling written content across multiple platforms. This role is for someone with 5-7 years of experience, ideally with a healthcare media or related background, who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and enjoys balancing strategy, writing, pitching, and account management.

Media Relations

• Pitch and secure media placements across healthcare, business, startup, and trade publications.
• Develop creative story angles that align client expertise with current trends and media conversations.
• Build and maintain targeted media lists tailored to each client.
• Draft press releases, pitches, media briefs, and background materials.
• Track coverage, manage reporting, and provide strategic recommendations based on results.

Content Development

• Write long-form blog posts, case studies, and executive bylines.
• Craft compelling LinkedIn thought leadership content for founders and senior leaders.
• Develop messaging frameworks and narrative positioning for clients.
• Ensure all content reflects each client’s voice while maintaining strategic alignment.
• Support the development of website copy and campaign messaging as needed.

Account Management

• Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients.
• Lead client calls, manage timelines, and ensure consistent communication and follow-through.
• Coordinate internally to keep projects on track and deliverables on time.
• Identify opportunities to expand scope and add strategic value to client engagements.

Strategy & Execution

• Contribute to the development of PR and communications strategies tailored to client goals.
• Execute campaigns from ideation through placement and amplification.
• Monitor industry news and trends to proactively recommend timely opportunities.
• Balance both strategic thinking and hands-on execution across accounts.
  

• 5-7 years of communications or PR experience, preferably with a healthcare, biotech, or related media background.
• Proven ability to pitch and secure media coverage.
• Strong writing skills across blogs, case studies, LinkedIn content, press materials, and executive communications.
• Experience managing client relationships and handling multiple accounts simultaneously.
• Ability to adapt writing style across different industries, audiences, and executive voices.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.
  

• Existing relationships with healthcare and business media.
• Experience working with startups, founders, conference organizers, and/or venture-backed companies.
• Exposure to thought leadership campaigns and executive branding.
  

As Senior Communications Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping how our clients show up in the media and in the market. You’ll combine strong writing, media pitching, and client management skills to drive real visibility and impact. Starting salary range: $90,000-$100,000, based on experience and qualifications.
