Meat Department Assistant Manager

We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual to join our team as Assistant Meat Department Manager. As the Assistant Manager responsible for the meat department, you will learn to order and assist in managing all aspects of keeping the meat department stocked on a daily basis, while implementing merchandising and sales initiatives, and ensuring superb customer service in every customer interaction. You will work with the Butcher to determine the department's needs and goals. This position requires considerable prior experience in a food-handling environment, and our ideal candidate has strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills, and the ability to work well with others to obtain a common goal as a team

Responsibilities:

• Assist department manager in all ways necessary
• Place orders with vendors based on the department's needs
• Cutting, preparing, marinating, packaging various types of meat
• Ensure proper food handling within the department
• Creating, managing and executing the task list
• Calculate pricing based on costs and appropriate gross margin
• Help customers at the meat counter while producing
• Stocking and refilling depleted inventory following proper rotation procedures
• Operate various types of equipment including but not limited to: Cryovac machines, meat tumbler, and meat grinder
• Be able to lift 50 lbs
• Cleaning and sanitizing backroom prep areas following all Safety and Sanitation Procedures
• Flexibility to work in other departments
• Providing excellent customer service

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Job Qualifications:

• You must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role
• Provides prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
• Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Effective time management

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior management experience
• Prior work experience in a meat department environment preferred
• Ability to handle meat department equipment safely
• Customer-focused with a positive and friendly attitude

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
