What are the responsibilities and job description for the Massage Therapist (part-time, flexible hours, great for performers) position at On the Mend Fitness and Massage?
DESCRIPTION
Work as a part-time MASSAGE THERAPIST with a small Personal Training and Wellness company in NYC and Westchester, NY. Must have your LMT. Our clients are mostly seniors (age 65 ) who are coming to us for strength training and/or yoga. Some are active, healthy, and still involved in golf, pickleball, etc. Others have chronic pain or chronic illness. It’s not the young, fit, gym crowd. ALL ages, races, etc. are encouraged to apply.
While we’re open to all applicants, if in addition to being a massage therapist, you’re also an actor or dancer, your personality and performance experience will be a plus!
COMPENSATION:
--$120/hour for corporate chair massage
--$180 for 90 min housecalls (still $120/hour, but our housecalls are 1 ½ hours)
--$30/hour for occasional staff meetings
*NO TIPS* for medical massage
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
We make HOUSECALLS. You need to own a table and massage chair, and have a way to bring your table to clients’ homes. (You need to have your own car, or be willing to pay for cabs/Ubers or have your own car. For sanitary reasons, we don’t want you to take a table on the subway or borrow friends’ cars to drive a table to clients.)
For a client’s *first* session, you’ll need to bring your own table. After they sign up for a package, we buy them a table. So you won’t need to keep bringing a table each time!
For CORPORATE CHAIR MASSAGE, you will need to bring your massage chair every time. (Obviously, you can’t use a table for Chair Massage jobs.)
HOURS:
Flexible hours. You will be ON CALL. We DON’T guarantee you a specific number of clients or hours.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
--Make HOUSECALLS to individual clients
--See individual clients in local physical therapy or chiropractic offices that we may rent space from from
--Provide Corporate CHAIR MASSAGE
--Coordinate care with the client’s fitness trainers, doctors, and physical therapists. 1-on-1 clients include seniors, and people of all ages with injuries, physical disabilities, or chronic illnesses. NOT your typical spa or gym-goers.
--If you have time and enjoy public speaking, you’ll also have opportunities to give lectures about massage, health, and wellness to promote the company and get in front of prospective clients. (These hours are paid!) We give you slides and content; just bring your awesome personality. If you are only interested in giving massage sessions, that’s also an option.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
--Bachelor’s degree (in any subject)
--NY Massage Therapy License (LMT)
--CPR/AED
--Professional liability insurance or be willing to get coverage (paid by you, NOT by us)
--Portable massage table
--Portable massage chair for events
HOW TO APPLY:
Email professional (& performance) resumes to Lisa. No cover letter. If you are also an actor or dancer, please send your theater/film/dance reel. (NOT a reel of you doing a massage.) We have multiple positions available. Let us know if you’re interested in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Westchester, NY.
