Job Summary:
The Career Services Re-Engagement Advisor works to reconnect students who have disengaged from education or workforce programs, providing guidance, support, and resources to help them achieve their academic and career goals. This role involves assessing participant needs, creating individualized re-engagement plans, and coordinating with staff, families, and community partners.
This position is funded by a new contract with ON RAMP. As such, funding is confirmed through June 30, 2026. Successful performance in this position will allow funding to continue for subsequent years, with potential for growth.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, has a high degree of cultural competence, and is experienced in providing outreach, communicating, and effectively operating within urban communities. They must also be committed to helping students overcome barriers to success.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct outreach to disengaged students and maintain consistent follow-up to encourage re-enrollment and program participation.
- Assess individual student needs and develop personalized re-engagement and career support plans.
- Coordinate with internal staff, school personnel, and external partners to provide comprehensive services and resources.
- Maintain accurate participant records, track progress, and report outcomes in accordance with program requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, career counseling sessions, and other activities designed to improve student engagement and workforce readiness.
- Provide support for referrals to academic, social-emotional, and workforce services as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Career Services Department.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with experience in youth services, workforce development, education, or counseling; 2–3 years of relevant experience and/or an Associate’s degree is also acceptable. Experience with at-risk youth, student engagement, or career advisement is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data management systems.
Special Requirements
- Must possess an unrestricted and valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Must maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally to meet students and support program activities.
- Access to a reliable vehicle.
