Overview
On Paws Professional Pet Services provides professional pet care services in San Marcos, TX. We provide pet care in client's homes, and we also have a small boarding and doggy daycare facility. We are currently hiring for a Pet Sitter/Dog Walker position.
This position provides pet sitting and dog walking services in client's homes. This position drives from client home to client home performing pet care visits. The standard pet care visit is 30 minutes, but some visits may be longer or shorter depending on client's needs. The visits are back-to-back in a shift. Shifts are short, usually no more than a few hours, though there are sometimes split shifts such as a morning/midday or midday/evening shift.
Pet care visits consist of, but are not limited to, walking dogs, feeding pets, giving medication, play time, attention, cleaning up after pets, watering plants, grabbing mail etc.
This position also requires you to cross train to work at our facility as backup. Therefore, you must be able and willing to work alone with groups of dogs.

Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a licensed driver, with an insured, reliable vehicle(proof of license and insurance will be required if hired)
- Live in San Marcos (this is a requirement as the shifts are short and if you live in another town, it is not worth it to drive to San Marcos)

-Be able to lift at least 50 pounds
-Have an excellent attention to detail
-Be prompt, reliable & responsible
-Be comfortable working in all kinds of weather
-Be comfortable working with all kinds of animals
-Be comfortable working alone with a group of dogs
-Be willing and able to cross train to work at our doggy daycare and boarding facility as backup
-Have availability to work most holidays and weekends as these are our busiest times
-Have a love for animals
This type of business is cyclical and the amount of business we haven goes up and down with the seasons. Therefore, this position is very part time with hours ranging from 5 to 15 or more depending on availability and how busy we are each week. It should only be relied upon for supplemental income. Though during busier times, hours may increase. We are currently in a slow period, but it has started to pick up and will be busy over the summer and into the fall and holiday seasons.
The pay structure is $13 per hour base pay, plus $.655 per mile plus tips. Total combined compensation averages between $17 to $20 dollars per hour depending on how many miles are driven and hours worked.
Availability Needed:
Weekends and holidays are a must, but we also need someone to work shifts during the week. Exact schedules will depend on applicant's availability. But we need morning/midday/ evening availability during the week. We may hire more than 1 person in order to fill the needed shifts
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 15.0 per week
