Automotive Service Writer – On & Off-Road Express
Location: 56381 Frank Pichon Rd, Slidell, LA 70458
Schedule:
Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM (alternating)
Position Overview
On & Off-Road Express is looking for an experienced Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-growing team. This individual will be the primary link between our customers and the service department responsible for creating repair orders, communicating clearly with customers, selling recommended services, and ensuring every job flows smoothly from drop-off to pick-up.
You must have prior automotive service writing experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work in a high-paced environment focused on accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional communication.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and create repair orders using Tek-Metric
Accurately document customer concerns and technician findings
Review multi-point inspections and upsell recommended services
Communicate job status, pricing, timelines, and approvals with customers
Prioritize daily workflow to maximize shop efficiency and labor production
Order required parts and verify correct parts have arrived before job start
Maintain clear documentation on all ROs, estimates, add-ons, and customer communication
Ensure all work is authorized before jobs begin
Close out repair orders with accurate labor, parts, and recommendations
Handle warranty, aftermarket service contract claims when applicable
Deliver an outstanding customer experience from start to finish
Required Qualifications
Automotive service writing experience required
Strong understanding of vehicle systems, repairs, and maintenance
Ability to explain technical information in a clear and friendly manner
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication—phone, text, and in-person
Experience working in a fast-paced service environment
Familiarity with Tek-Metric is a plus but not required
Compensation
Fixed base pay
Variable commission plan based on:
Labor production
Parts gross profit generated
