On My Own Independent Living Services is hiring Skills Trainers! We offer flexible scheduling for both part-time and full-time employment.
We provide paid, on the job training and support. As a Skills Trainer, you will provide in-home training to help to strengthen the alliances, commitments, and strategies that result in unique outcomes in the lives of the people served. Areas of training may include independent living skills, parenting skills, and employment services.
Skills Trainer Daily Tasks Include:
- Assess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of clients in independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, money management, shopping, etc.
- Assist clients in developing necessary skills required for job exploration and retention, volunteer opportunities, educational objectives and other endeavors he/she wishes to pursue.
- Assess knowledge, skills, and abilities of clients in functional areas of parenting: early childhood development, understanding and handling childhood anger, problem solving, setting boundaries, transitions, and safety.
- Provide skills training in areas of deficiency to meet the clients’ goals; and participate in meetings as needed to help modify their training objectives.
- Establish training or maintenance schedules with clients.
What do you need to become a Skills Trainer?
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid California driver’s license with reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance in employee’s name.
- Knowledge of necessary skills required for an adult to live in an independent environment.

This position has a fixed starting wage, and includes a passive rate of $16.50 per hour for travel time while not providing direct service.
