Position Summary
On Line Design, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician for a laboratory team in Hebron, KY to support manufacturing operations through the evaluation and approval of raw materials and finished products using both sensory and instrumental test methods. This role is central to ensuring that every material that enters the facility and every product leaving the facility meets established quality and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Perform routine analysis of liquid raw materials and flavors using a density meter and refractometer.
- Perform flash point testing of liquid manufactured flavors.
- Perform water activity testing of powders.
- Prepare tasting solutions and set up products for sensory panels for quality purposes.
- Set up first-time samples for Flavor Creation evaluation.
Documentation & Records
- Record test results in the ERP system (Sage X3) and in written records.
- Coordinate finished product documentation between Manufacturing and Quality.
- Maintain files of raw material certificates of analysis, finished product batch records, work orders, and sales orders.
- Obtain Certificates of Analysis from suppliers for received materials.
Sample & Inventory Management
- Manage the storage and maintenance of raw material and finished product retain samples.
- Support R&D and Flavor Creation by providing requested retain samples.
- Maintain lab stock of solvents and chemicals.
Laboratory Upkeep
- Maintain lab areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform calibrations as needed.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Apply a working understanding of food safety practices to all laboratory activities.
- Follow food safety and food defense procedures as instructed and required.
- Support the Food Safety and Quality Policy, including the site Food Safety Culture.
- Attend all required Food Safety and Personal Safety training.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, with a high degree of accuracy in testing and recordkeeping.
- Computer proficiency, including data entry into quality and ERP systems.
- Ability to accurately see, taste, and smell (essential to sensory evaluation duties).
- Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or Associate's degree.
- 3–5 years of related work experience, preferably in a laboratory environment.
