On Line Design is looking for a full-time Fragrance Lab Technician, in Florham, NJ working on-site. In this role, you will be responsible for the hands-on execution of microencapsulation processes, focusing on the preparation and testing of fragrance slurries. You will also be asked to assist in R&D activities to create new fragrance delivery systems, ensuring product stability and performance while adhering to strict safety and quality control standards.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate microencapsulation slurries for various applications for personal care, laundry and household applications.
- Operate and maintain specialized lab equipment, such as mixing tanks, spray dryers, and other encapsulation machinery.
- Conduct various tests on prepared fragrance slurries and microcapsules to evaluate performance.
- Perform stability tests under different conditions (e.g., temperature, pH, pressure) to ensure product durability.
- Analyze capsule properties, including size distribution, encapsulation efficiency, and fragrance release profiles.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all experimental procedures, observations, and results. Record and report any deviations or inconsistencies in materials or process to the supervisor.
- Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations for the R&D team.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, cleaned, and maintained.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support the proper disposal of chemical waste in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with research scientists and the quality control team to ensure batch consistency and collaborate with production teams to scale up successful formulations from the lab to manufacturing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field expertise working in an R&D process lab/pilot plant environment
- 2 years of experience working within a Lab Environment with Fragrances
- 3 years of microencapsulation experience
- Solid computer skills for data entry and analysis
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
