What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Architect position at On-Demand Group?
Job Title: Finance Solution Architect (Healthcare)
Role Summary
The Finance Solution Architect designs and drives end-to-end technology solutions that enable healthcare financial operations spanning claims and premium revenue, AP/AR, subledger/journal processing, reconciliation, and GL integration within an ERP platform (e.g., Workday Financials). This role bridges finance domain knowledge with solution and application architecture, ensuring systems are scalable, auditable, and aligned to regulatory and reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
1) End-to-End Solution Architecture
• Define target-state architecture for finance capabilities across source systems ? data platform ? subledger ? Workday GL.
• Create solution blueprints (conceptual/logical/physical), integration patterns, and roadmaps aligned to finance and business strategy.
• Ensure design supports healthcare payer/provider nuances (e.g., medical vs pharmacy claims, capitation, stop-loss/reinsurance, risk adjustment, premium billing).
2) Workday Financials / Accounting Integration
• Design posting architecture into Workday GL, including dimensional strategy (e.g., worktags, entity, LOB, cost center).
• Architect subledger processing using Workday Accounting Center (or equivalent) to convert business events into balanced journal entries.
• Establish guardrails for period close, backposting rules, accrual handling (e.g., IBNR), and journal governance.
3) Data & Reconciliation Architecture
• Partner with data teams to define curated finance data models (e.g., FNDS/FCDS patterns) covering:
o Revenue / Premium Billing / AR
o Claims (medical pharmacy) / AP
o Membership & eligibility
o Payments & cash
o Adjustments & accruals
• Design reconciliation frameworks:
o Source ? FNDS
o FNDS ? subledger outputs
o Subledger ? Workday GL
• Implement controls, exception handling, and variance workflows to support audit readiness.
4) Integration Architecture & Reliability
• Define enterprise-grade integration patterns (batch, API, event-driven) for high-volume healthcare financial feeds.
• Ensure resiliency patterns:
o idempotency / replay safety
o retries and dead-letter routing
o control totals and completeness checks
o monitoring and operational dashboards
• Manage interface contracts, data mapping, and versioning across dependent systems.
5) Application Architecture (User-Facing Finance Tools)
• Design and support user-facing applications that finance teams rely on (beyond reporting), such as:
o reconciliation workbenches
o exception resolution workflows
o adjustment entry tooling
o finance self-service portals
• Define API/service-layer patterns to decouple UI workflows from storage and ERP dependencies.
6) Governance, Security, and Compliance
• Ensure designs meet audit/compliance standards (SOX-like controls, PHI/PII protections as applicable).
• Define access control patterns (RBAC/ABAC), audit trails, lineage, and evidence artifacts for finance operations.
• Align architecture with enterprise governance standards and participate in architecture review boards.
7) Stakeholder Leadership
• Partner with Finance (Controllers, FP&A, Treasury, AP/AR), IT, and vendor teams to align requirements and prioritize delivery.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders; produce executive-ready materials.
Required Qualifications
• 8 years of experience in solution architecture (or equivalent) with significant focus on finance systems.
• Strong understanding of finance processes: GL, AP, AR, close, accruals, reconciliation, auditability.
• Experience integrating with an ERP (preferably Workday Financials; SAP/Oracle/PeopleSoft acceptable).
• Demonstrated ability to design end-to-end integrations across multiple source systems and domains.
• Strong data architecture skills (financial data modeling, curated layers, lineage, quality).
• Experience designing controls for accuracy:
o control totals
o reconciliation
o idempotent posting
o exception handling
o period governance
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
• Healthcare payer/provider domain experience (claims, premiums, PBM/pharmacy, capitation, risk adjustment, stop-loss).
• Workday-specific: Accounting Center, Prism, Worktags, Workday integration patterns.
• Experience with modern cloud patterns (Azure/AWS), event streaming (Kafka/Event Hub), API management.
• Experience with data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks), analytics (Power BI), and metadata/catalog tooling.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting needs in healthcare.
Key Skills
• Finance fluency ability to translate into architecture decisions
• System thinking across applications, data, integration, and controls
• Auditability by design (traceability, evidence, approvals)
• Reconciliation-first mindset (not “fix later in Excel”)
• Ability to design user workflows APIs, not just pipelines
Example Deliverables
• End-to-end architecture diagrams and integration blueprints
• Accounting Center / journal rule patterns and mapping approach
• Reconciliation control framework and dashboards
• Data model for curated finance domains (FNDS/FCDS)
• Cutover/migration plan to Workday (including parallel run strategy)
• Security model and audit evidence approach
