On Cue Hire is seeking a Sr. Manager / Assistant Director of Transportation Engineering for a full-time onsite leadership opportunity with a premier county government organization in Sarasota, FL.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing transportation planning and engineering operations within one of Florida’s fastest-growing communities. The selected candidate will help drive major infrastructure, mobility, roadway, traffic engineering, and capital improvement initiatives while serving as a strategic partner to executive county leadership.
Location: Sarasota, FL
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite | Monday–Friday
Salary: $123,000–$140,000 excellent government benefits package
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership across transportation planning, traffic engineering, roadway infrastructure, and capital improvement initiatives
• Oversee multidisciplinary transportation engineering and operational teams
• Support long-range transportation strategy, mobility planning, and infrastructure growth initiatives
• Serve as a key liaison with FDOT, MPOs, consultants, contractors, and public stakeholders
• Present recommendations and updates to executive leadership, boards, and community stakeholders
• Support budgeting, operational planning, and departmental strategy
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, engineering standards, and public infrastructure requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience
OR
• Master’s Degree plus 6 years of related experience
• Leadership experience within transportation engineering, public works, infrastructure, or metropolitan planning environments
• Experience working with FDOT and/or MPOs strongly preferred
• Strong background in transportation systems, roadway infrastructure, traffic operations, and public capital projects
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred but not required
