Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure Government)Location: Remote / Hybrid Company: On Call Computer Solutions, LLC Employment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewOn Call Computer Solutions is seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain secure Azure Government cloud environments for our public sector and regulated clients.This role is responsible for building and operating Azure landing zones, implementing governance and security controls, and ensuring reliable and cost-optimized infrastructure deployments.The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Azure networking, governance, monitoring, and infrastructure deployment, and can work collaboratively with engineering, security, and project teams to deliver production-ready environments.Core ResponsibilitiesAzure Infrastructure DeploymentProvision Azure Government subscriptions and configure Management Groups.Deploy Azure Landing Zones, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, and private DNS zones.Deploy and configure core Azure services including:Virtual MachinesAzure App ServicesAzure Storage AccountsAzure Key VaultAzure SQL and other database servicesNetworking & ConnectivityConfigure site-to-site VPN or ExpressRoute connectivity between client environments and Azure Gov.Implement secure network segmentation and routing.Validate connectivity between on-premise networks and Azure workloads.Security & GovernanceImplement Azure Policy for compliance and governance.Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) using least-privilege principles.Deploy and configure Microsoft Defender for Cloud.Monitoring & OperationsDeploy Azure Monitor and Log Analytics workspaces.Configure alerts, dashboards, and performance monitoring.Assist with cutover validation and performance testing during migrations.Backup, Disaster Recovery & ResilienceImplement Azure Backup and disaster recovery strategies.Validate backup systems through test restores and DR exercises.Cost Management & OptimizationConfigure Azure Cost Management, including budgets, alerts, and tagging strategies.Work with engineering teams to optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency.Documentation & RunbooksCreate and maintain infrastructure documentation and operational runbooks.Document architecture, deployment procedures, and operational processes.Key Deliverables / KPIsThe Azure Engineer will be measured by the successful delivery of:Deployed Azure Government infrastructure per approved architectureValidated network connectivity between Azure and client environmentsAzure Policy compliance dashboards showing green statusRBAC access matrix implemented according to the least-privilege modelMonitoring and alerting are fully configured and operationalBackup and disaster recovery validated through successful test restoresInfrastructure documentation and operational runbooks completedAzure Cost Management budgets and alerts are configuredRequired Qualifications3 years of experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructureExperience with Azure Government environmentsStrong knowledge of:Azure Networking (VNets, NSGs, routing)Azure Policy and governanceRBAC and identity managementAzure Monitor and Log AnalyticsExperience implementing backup and disaster recovery solutionsFamiliarity with Azure Cost Management and tagging strategiesStrong troubleshooting and documentation skillsPreferred QualificationsMicrosoft certifications such as:Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)Experience with:Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)Microsoft Defender for CloudAzure Landing Zone architectureGovernment compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, CJIS)Key CompetenciesCloud infrastructure designSecurity-first architectureDocumentation and process disciplineStrong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholdersProblem-solving in complex hybrid environments
