Manufacturing Team Lead - 1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates the day-to-day planning, operation and problem-solving of a ManufacturingTeam to assure high quality and on-time delivery to customer. Also, performs manufacturing duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to and promotes established safety guidelines.
• Leads team of manufacturing employees.
• Coordinates scheduling and operations to assure that the team meets assigned performance metrics for quality and on-time-delivery.
• Anticipate/respond to bottlenecks/obstacles (line stops, material shortages, quality concerns, etc.).
• Arrive early each day to prep the manufacturing area for the start of the day and be the last to leave your manufacturing area to ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and shift hand-off details (if applicable).
• Train and enforce team members to prepare them for the following manufacturing responsibilities: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, Lean manufacturing principles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality expectations, and On-time delivery requirements
• Assist team members in developmental growth opportunities (leveling up, help to attain career goals, guide/advise/advocate).
• Gathers information to support performance management activities conducted by the Supervisor.
• Responsible for Hour-by-Hour Chart/Daily Tasks.
• Responsible for logging daily production/key figures/downtime tracker.
• Perform periodic audits of employees to evaluate their training and knowledge of components/products.
• Acts as communication liaison between management and department employees.
• Assist with manufacturing processes as needed.
• Flexibility and willingness to transfer from area to area as necessary.
• Ability and willingness to learn new product/components.
• Assists Supervisor in first steps of disciplinary action.
• Serves as a role model of excellent attendance.
• Champion the OMT-Veyhl values (C.R.E.A.T.E.) by living them out daily.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma
• One to three years experience in manufacturing
• Team Lead or other supervisory experience helpful, but not required
• Experience leading a team of assemblers is preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with co-workers.
• The employee is frequently required to traverse the facility and occasionally remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
• The employee occasionally is required to ascend/descend and position themselves around a desk, filing cabinets, shelving, and other equipment.
• The employee may be required to move, lift, and/or transport components, equipment, tools, etc. weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Specific abilities required by this job include the ability to perceive items up close, observe items in the distance, distinguish between color, and the ability to adjust focus.
