What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oral Surgical Assistant position at OMS360?
Position Summary and Purpose: Primarily responsible for assisting the Oral Surgeons with clinical procedures. This individual will help carry out all functions of the back office including surgery assisting and all pre- and post-op procedures while displaying first-rate professionalism towards patients.
Responsibilities: Not to be considered all-inclusive
Position Functions and Responsibilities:
- Setup trays
- Take x-rays/CT Scans
- Seat patients, lay back patient and hook to monitors
- Prepare consent form and have patient sign
- Assist all doctors at the chairside during surgeries by suctioning, retracting, cutting suture, and performing other duties as needed
- Assist nurse with sedation processes, IV supplies, histories, post-op, as needed
- Assist in recording drugs/vitals before and after surgery
- Escort/wheel sedated patients out after surgery
- Seating post-ops, removing sutures
- Clean operatories after surgery and set up appropriate instrumentation for the next patient
- Sterilize instruments/wash trays
- Assure that procedure rooms are appropriately stocked with supplies
- Empty trash/suction at end of day
- Pack dry sockets as indicated
- Follow all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines and internally developed rules regarding safety, sterility and reporting
- Alert front staff if back office procedures change
- Folding gauze, towels, labeling syringes – weekly
- Assisting the front office staff as necessary
- Covering Saturday half days as required
- Wash/Dry towels/jackets – at some locations
- Available to work at all locations as needed.
- Track implants and implant supplies – at some locations
- Available to arrive no later than 8:00 am
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.49 - $35.88 per hour

Experience:
- Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- X-Ray Certification (Required)
