Community School Director

OmniLearn is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and creative Community School Director who is passionate about youth development, community engagement, and educational leadership. The Community School Director will oversee the implementation and coordination of the Community School initiative at one of our New York City partner schools, working collaboratively with school leadership, community organizations, families, and OmniLearn staff to support student success.

The ideal candidate will have experience in school leadership, program management, staff supervision, attendance improvement initiatives, and community partnership development. The Community School Director will ensure that all Community School programs operate effectively while promoting academic achievement, social-emotional development, family engagement, and positive school culture.

Responsibilities:

School & Community Partnerships

  • Work closely with the School Principal to provide leadership in coordinating Community School initiatives and aligning the work of school and community partners.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, support staff, and community organizations to develop, implement, and evaluate Community School programming.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, teachers, and community stakeholders.
  • Foster partnerships with community-based organizations to expand services and resources available to students and families.
  • Promote understanding of the Community School model and its impact on student achievement among all stakeholders.

Data Management & Program Evaluation

  • Organize and oversee the annual Assets and Needs Assessment to identify the evolving needs of students, families, and the school community.
  • Maintain accurate student, staff, and program documentation in compliance with OmniLearn & DOE requirements.
  • Analyze attendance, enrollment, participation, and program outcome data to support data-driven decision-making and continuous program improvement.
  • Ensure student attendance, enrollment, participation, and program data are accurately entered and maintained in the Afterschool21 database system.

Attendance & Student Success

  • Collaborate with the attendance team to identify chronically absent and high-needs students and develop intervention plans.
  • Monitor attendance data and evaluate intervention strategies during weekly student success meetings.
  • Coordinate attendance outreach, recruitment, retention efforts, attendance incentive programs, family conferences, home outreach, and follow-up communications.
  • Remain informed of current Community School, Attendance Improvement, and Dropout Prevention guidelines and contractual requirements.

Staff Supervision & Leadership

  • Recruit, onboard, and supervise, interns, mentors, and coaches.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, classroom observations, and performance evaluations while providing ongoing coaching.
  • Ensure staff understand and comply with OmniLearn policies, contractual expectations, and program requirements.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team culture focused on student success.

School Day & Extended Learning Programs

  • Coordinate and oversee before-school, school-day, after-school, holiday, and summer programming.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure strong alignment between the school day and extended learning opportunities.
  • Ensure all programming is implemented with fidelity and supports academic achievement, youth development, health and wellness, and leadership development.
  • Monitor program quality through regular observations and continuous quality improvement practices.
  • Coordinate enrichment activities, mentoring initiatives, leadership opportunities, and student support services.
  • Supervise the implementation of high-quality programming during school-day and after-school hours.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Parent Coordinator to organize family engagement events, workshops, Community Forums, parent nights, health fairs, and other special events.
  • Develop meaningful opportunities that strengthen partnerships between families, the school, and community organizations.
  • Serve as OmniLearn's primary liaison to school leadership teams, community partners, and parent organizations.
  • Represent OmniLearn at school meetings, community events, and stakeholder gatherings.

Compliance, Safety & Operations

  • Ensure all Community School programming operates in compliance with DOE, funding requirements, and OmniLearn policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for students and staff.
  • Ensure emergency procedures, incident reporting, and student supervision protocols are followed at all times.
  • Monitor program expenditures and oversee supply purchases while ensuring compliance with OmniLearn fiscal procedures.
  • Ensure all program records (digital and hard copy) are securely maintained, including attendance, enrollment, field trip forms, workshops, consent forms, and other required documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Youth Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Community Schools, youth development, education, or program management.
  • Experience working within the New York City Department of Education and familiarity with DOE policies and procedures.
  • Experience supervising staff, coaching teams, and managing multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.
  • Experience coordinating attendance improvement initiatives and student support services.
  • Experience using Afterschool21 or similar student information and program management systems.
  • Strong understanding of youth development, restorative practices, and culturally responsive programming.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support family engagement activities and special events.

Salary & Benefits

$70,000 - $80,000
