Job Summary:
The Incumbent is responsible for carrying out various maintenance tasks, typically in a manufacturing environment. They install and inspect machines and electrical equipment and carry out preventive maintenance to ensure that industrial machines remain operational. Additionally, the incumbent will take calls and perform maintenance repairs to ensure packaging floor continues to run successfully and safely.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safety compliance personally and with equipment.
- Perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and update of machinery.
- Repair and troubleshoot mechanical issues with a sense of urgency.
- Process all necessary repairs and upkeep of all machinery and mechanical systems.
- Train production employees as needed for effective and efficient set-ups and operation of all equipment, etc.
- Participate in projects and/or rebuilds.
- Dedicated to Quality of Work and Quality of Product being produced
- PLC Troubleshooting and Repair (Allen Bradley)
- Pump/Motor/Gearbox replacement, rebuilding, troubleshooting Basic Electrical Troubleshooting skills (effective use of a multi-meter to troubleshoot equipment/circuits)
- Basic Electrician Skills: Conduit Install/Bending. Installation and repair of circuits.
- Welding and Fabrication Vision Systems: Setup/Adjustments/Troubleshooting
- Experience with Packaging Equipment: Hot Glue, Cold Glue, Carton Erectors, Drop Packers, Wrappers
- Forklift Repair, Troubleshooting, and PMs
- Facility Maintenance: Compressors, Pumps, HVAC, Building Repairs
- Project Management: Ability to take a long-term assignment and see it to completion
Required Skills:
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals accurately.
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems, motors, conveyors, and hydraulics.
- Perform electrical repairs, including wiring, circuits, PLCs, and control panels.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Operate manufacturing equipment to understand and address issues effectively.
- Prioritize tasks and respond promptly to maintenance calls.
- Identify root causes of problems and implement effective solutions.
- Adhere to workplace safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA compliance.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professional with team members and document maintenance activities.
- Adapt to urgent issues and unexpected challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Attention to detail to ensure precision and reliability in maintenance work.
Education and Experience:
- Vocational school, technical college training, or satisfactory completion of the formal apprentice program.
- Ability to read and understand line diagrams and schematics.
- Previous experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience working around and troubleshooting electrical equipment
- Preference will be given for prior manufacturing experience and/or a recent graduate who is mechanically and electrically inclined.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- Stand or walk for extended periods 12 hours.
- Perform repetitive motions, including bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
- Work in confined spaces, crawl, or kneel as required.
- Climb ladders or scaffolding and work at heights.
- Use hand and power tools with precision.
- Read schematics, blueprints, and manuals with adequate vision, including color differentiation.
- Detect unusual noises or alarms with adequate hearing.
- Tolerate varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, grease, chemicals).
- Maintain quick reflexes and coordination for safe equipment operation.
- Communicate clearly with team members, both verbally and in writing.
- Monitor equipment and identify issues promptly.
