They build positive relationships with youth and engage them through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and empowerment-focused approaches that are individualized and non-stigmatizing. Providers help youth strengthen communication, emotional regulation, coping, social interaction, and independent living skills through coaching, mentoring, structured activities, and real-life skill practice across home, school, and community environments. They reinforce individualized treatment objectives and positive behavior supports while encouraging healthy decision-making and meaningful community involvement. Providers also collaborate closely with families and care teams, respond appropriately during behavioral crises, and help implement prevention strategies that reduce risk and improve overall functioning and resilience.
