Die Cast Supervisor
Position Summary
The Die Cast Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the die casting department to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and employee performance expectations are met. This position provides leadership to production personnel while promoting continuous improvement, teamwork, and efficient manufacturing practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a die casting or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with aluminum or zinc die casting operations is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of die casting machines, furnace operations, tow motor, tooling, trimming, and secondary operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read production schedules, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Basic computer skills and experience with production reporting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead die casting personnel to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Ensure all employees follow company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Monitor machine performance and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Verify product quality by ensuring operators follow inspection procedures and work instructions.
- Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and employee performance.
- Ensure proper staffing and assign work based on production priorities.
- Maintain accurate production records, downtime reports, and shift documentation.
- Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Shipping departments to resolve production issues.
- Promote continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
- Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, and company updates.
- Enforce company policies consistently and fairly.
- Assist with process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required.
