Position Summary
The Evening Custodian (Part‑Time) works at client facilities during evening hours, ensuring that offices, restrooms, corridors, and public areas are clean, sanitary, and presentable. This position performs manual cleaning tasks that require moderate physical strength and stamina, often working independently or with a small team under the direction of a site supervisor or area manager.
Key Responsibilities
Refuse Removal: Empty trash containers, recycling bins, and ashtrays; dispose of waste properly.
Floor Care: Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, and spray‑buff hard floors; vacuum carpets and rugs.
Restroom Sanitation: Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures; replenish supplies such as towels, tissues, and soap.
General Cleaning: Dust and clean walls, doors, windows, woodwork, and other above‑floor surfaces; dust, clean, and polish furniture and fixtures.
Public Areas: Clean and police public areas, elevators, stairwells, and entryways.
Maintenance Reporting: Notify supervisor of equipment or facilities needing repair or replacement.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all OMEX safety and quality standards, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Record Keeping: Keep basic records and make simple reports as required.
Project Work: Perform occasional projects such as window washing, furniture vacuuming, and special‑event setup/tear‑down.
Team Support: Occasionally assist or train new custodians or cover for absent staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: At least six months of custodial/janitorial experience in an office, industrial, or similar environment is preferred.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment (e.g., floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners).
Communication: Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English; basic literacy to read safety labels and schedules.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual labor requiring moderate physical strength; able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate mechanical cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Interpersonal Skills: Good customer service and communication skills; able to interact respectfully with clients and co‑workers.
Compliance: Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening and maintain compliance with OMEX safety and security policies.
Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred (for travel between sites)
Work Schedule & Compensation
Evening shifts, typically between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM (schedules may vary based on client needs).
