What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator 1st Shift position at Omega Thermo Products?
Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for polishing stainless material to customer specifications. You will also assist with unloading product deliveries, staging products based on customer orders and assisting with organizing and maintaining existing inventory. You will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare and operate CNC machine to perform tasks such as de-coiling, transfer of product, polishing material, etc
- Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading production orders
- Translating instructions into computer commands so the machine can perform the correct functions
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Prepare a test run to check the produce outputs according to specifications
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce better results
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
- Safely operate fork lifts, cranes, CNC machines and all other equipment and tools applicable to the job duties
- Assist and guide others as necessary to ensure proper training and quality levels are maintained
- Maintain high levels of quality in all tasks performed
- Must work as a team and contribute to each other’s success. This includes collaborating and working together, across all departments to accomplish assigned tasks
- Regularly lift or move materials
- Ensures work areas are clean and orderly
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Exceptional attendance and punctuality
- Ability to read tape measures, depth gages, micrometers and other basic measurement tools
- Ability to work with and communicate well with others
- Prolonged standing, reaching and bending
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as necessary
Preferred Skills
- Fork lift and overhead crane use
- Strong computer skills or willingness to learn
- Familiarity with stainless steel
- Familiarity with CNC machines and programs
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
