Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP)Overview

As a Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide compassionate, person-centered support that promotes independence, dignity, safety, and overall well-being.

Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with varying physical, behavioral, and developmental support needs while ensuring their health, safety, and comfort at all times.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, eating, and mobility support as needed.
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills, social connections, and community involvement.
- Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), and other person-centered strategies to promote positive outcomes.
- Administer medications and document medication administration according to agency policies and state regulations.
- Monitor and document individuals' progress, behaviors, health concerns, appointments, and daily activities accurately and promptly.
- Encourage meaningful participation in recreational, educational, vocational, and community activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment in accordance with health, safety, and licensing standards.
- Collaborate with individuals, families, case managers, healthcare providers, and team members to ensure quality care and continuity of services.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis situations following established protocols.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in residential care, caregiving, direct support, home health, or supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
