WELDER II

### **Job Summary:**

The Welder II position is intended for individuals with intermediate-level welding experience in steel fabrication. This role requires performing a wide range of welding operations with moderate supervision, applying various welding techniques, and ensuring that all welds meet company and Industry standards for strength, precision, visual acceptance and appearance. The ideal candidate will be confident in their technical skills, knowledgeable about different welding processes, and welding procedures dedicated to maintaining safety and quality in all aspects of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level welding tasks using GMAW processes based on project requirements.

Reading

: Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications accurately.

• Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and aligning components.
• Inspection: Inspect welds for accuracy (fabrication details), strength, and compliance with quality standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition and reporting any issues promptly.
• Assist less experienced welders with setup techniques, and safety practices when needed.
• Quality Control: Learn to inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure that all work meets company & quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficient workflow.
• Professional Development: Participate in on-the-job training, workshops, and courses to improve welding skills and advance within the welding team
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a recognized welding program is preferred.
• 1--3 years of experience in welding or steel fabrication with prior certification.
• Strong proficiency in one or more welding processes (GMAW/GTAW/SMAW/FCAW).
• Ability to read and understand welding blueprints and symbols.
• Familiarity with welding inspection standards and techniques.
• Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically and perform repetitive tasks.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn and a positive attitude towards feedback and improvement.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a shop environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and welding fumes. Requires the use of PPE, such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses. May involve occasional overtime or weekend work based on project demands.

Wages

• Up to $25.00/hour depending on experience.
