We are seeking an energetic, independent Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) to join our Charles Town team. If you are passionate about empowerment and ready to be a boots-on-the-ground advocate for your community, this is your invitation to step up and lead the change.
Your Impact: What You’ll Do
Under the guidance of a Case Manager, you will work directly in the field to bridge the gap between our consumers and local employers. This is not a desk job. On a daily basis, you will:
- Deliver Direct Job Coaching: Hands-on support for individuals through new hire screenings, workplace orientations, and daily job tasks to guarantee long-term retention.
- Fiercely Advocate: Identify, suggest, and implement assistive technologies or reasonable workplace accommodations to help consumers thrive.
- Cultivate Natural Supports: Build positive social bridges between consumers, coworkers, and corporate supervisors to foster independent workplace integration.
- Maintain Operational Precision: Log daily digital service updates via Google Workspace and Asana, accurately tracking critical employment milestones (pay rates, benefits, etc.).
- Manage Field Logistics: Utilize your personal or agency vehicle to provide safe community and employment-related transport for active participants.
The Essentials (Requirements & Qualifications)
To join our team, you must meet one of our educational pathways alongside our standard compliance and technical criteria:
Educational Track (Must meet one):
- Bachelor’s Degree (Ideally in Early Childhood Education, General Education, or History & Arts) OR
- Associate’s Degree 1 year of relevant work experience OR
- High School Diploma / GED 2 years of relevant work/life experience.
Mandatory Strengths & Background:
- The Educator’s Mindset: 3 years of experience in General Education or Tutoring is highly preferred.
- Adaptability: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with a highly diverse staff and clientele.
- Diplomacy: High-level communication skills for public speaking and resolving employer workplace issues with extreme professionalism.
- Organization: A proven knack for precise documentation, meeting rigid deadlines, and handling multiple projects independently.
Mobility & Compliance:
- Digital Literacy: High comfort level utilizing Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Asana.
- Credentials: A valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proper insurance coverage.
- Clearances: Ability to successfully pass a standard drug screen and comprehensive background check (Federal, State, and County).
- Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification (required upon employment; training provided).
